I Can Explain! 04/08/2011
Wait a second! I have a very good reason why I haven't updated in a few months. Didn't have internet for a while and I visited family down in California. Good thing is, I'm back! And I'm updating everything tonight! It's been a long night but everything is looking fantastic. The amount of pictures that are piling up in folders on my hard drive is insane! I take pictures everyday and lately I haven't been doing anything with them. Just uploading and putting them into a file. It's getting a bit ridiculous. Hopefully tomorrow I can sit down and figure it all out. It's getting late but I wanted anyone out there who follows my work and blog to know that I am here and I am updating! I should add to my goals: blog everyday for 365 days and add a picture that I have taken that day. Hmmmmm. So how is everyone? Add Comment Fireworks and Rain Drops 12/12/2010
Yesterday was a marvelous day. Spent the beginning of the day with my parents running errands and spent the evening with my sister's family to enjoy holiday fireworks. All day long the rain clouds followed us everywhere we went and insisted on dumping rain drops on us every time we left the comfort of our car. We were worried the festive celebrations in town wouldn't occur because of the damp weather. Thankfully the rain had no effect on the festivities. The firework show was probably the best show I have ever seen to date. Loud booms and screams. I was so sweet to see children with their parents line up to see Santa during the tree lighting. Had a delicious barbecue meal with the family to finish with the night. I'm definitely going again next year! Would be neat if there would have been snow on the ground. But it wouldn't be fun without puddles and wet jeans! I suggest not taking pictures with the digital camera while outside in the rain! Unless you have the proper waterproof equipment! During the show my camera froze on a black screen. I managed to take three photos and decided to take a 2 minute video instead. Above is my favorite picture out of the three. Very jelly fish like. How do you celebrate the holidays? Tootsie Pops and Hard Days Night 11/14/2010
Hello there. It's been a while. I took a picture of my lovely warm boots that have saved my piggy toes from frost bite. I'm in love with the red leaves that have been falling. They are littered all over my yard wilting and covered in dew. I can't get enough of autumn. The sun hasn't shined in a few days. Before it said goodbye, I stepped outside into the glow and soaked up the warmth knowing that I wouldn't feel it for a while. Rain drops dancing on the roof and hot soup cooking on the stove are what to look forward to this month. That is until it's Thanksgiving. Oh boy am I excited for stuffing and mashed potatoes! I'll be uploading more pictures in my gallery soon. So stayed tuned! New projects Funny story about this Lipton tea bottle cap. Found it buried in the dirt in my front yard. It's a bit rusty and looked pretty sad but it's funny that it's a Lipton cap. The night before, I was reading Larry Kane's "Lennon Revealed" a biography about John Lennon. The last sentence I read had the word Lipton in it. John was making a joke about a woman's last name that was Lipton. He told her he liked her 'bags'. The book was a fabulous read. I felt like I knew the real John and it made me really miss him. Even though I was born 11 years after his death, I feel like all of The Beatles are family. Possibly because they have been present throughout my life since birth. The house has always been filled with the tunes from the 60's, 70's and a lot of The Beatles. My dad's taste in music has influenced most of my own choices in music while record shopping. I enjoy shopping for records with my dad in our local record store. It's something every father and daughter should do. Buy some records and talk about music and life. A few weeks ago I purchased a Polaroid Cool Cam at Goodwill. I sure hope it works but I don't have any film to test it out. My parents spent the day together and came home with another Polaroid camera for me. I was surprised to find it with film inside. Unfortunately, the film was very expired and dried out. Probably because someone kept it in their garage where it got cold. I'm very happy with it. It's in great shape. Needs to be dusted off and loved again. Thanks mom and dad! Halloween is around the corner. I'm not sure if I'm dressing up or not. I was never good at finding a costume. It would always be the night before and I would be freaking out saying, "what am I going to be?!" But it shouldn't be something to stress about. It will be a fun night whether or not I dress up. The family will all be together and it will be a blast. That's all that matters. Why owls and grasshoppers?!?!?! Yes, I'd thought you'd say that. I was thinking the same thing. Everyday has been sunny but cold this week. The trees are changing and the feeling of autumn is stronger than ever. October is flying by and it will be Thanksgiving soon. It always seems to go by real quick at the end of the year. This week was a great week. A busy week filled with things to do, places to go and people to meet. I had the pleasure of meeting with a local photographer who works on the historic schooner named Adventuress. Elizabeth T. Becker has years of experience in the photography business and was happy to answer my questions. She gave me helpful advice that I very much appreciate. I took the picture above during our meeting. We were sitting outdoors in the sun surrounded by the beautiful autumn foliage. Aw, We Meet Again 10/09/2010
"Rain, rain don't go away." The many citizens of Washington would disagree with me on this but I enjoy the rain. We see a lot of it up here but I'm okay with it. It might make me feel down sometimes, but drawing peace signs on your driveway will put a smile on your face. I promise. Watching the chalk wash away and jumping in puddles. Today was a blast. I remember my history of art teacher telling us about a film we should all consider watching. Yesterday while returning Bram Stokers Dracula, I went to the DVD section and found the movie he was talking about, it's called "Amelie". I can't wait to watch it. I'm not sure what to expect. The humanities course I took in community college was very beneficial to me. It was around six months and I am so glad I signed up. The teachings, my teachers, and my fellow classmates inspire me everyday. My favorite class was history of art, literature and (even though it drove me crazy) philosophy. The teacher would call on me and I wouldn't know what to say! History of art was the best because we would watch slide shows of artwork and talk about it. I didn't have a favorite painting until I was in this class. My favorite painting is "The Raft of the Medusa" painted by Theodore Gericault. Beautiful, tragic and based on a true story. I couldn't imagine the fear they experienced. Left for dead stranded on a raft in the middle of the ocean watching the ship disappear over the horizon. Anyone who is reading, what is your favorite painting(s)? P.S. Happy Birthday Sean and John Lennon! Peace, love and lavender Lavender Dreams 10/05/2010
My sleeping schedule is all messed up again. I'm usually most creative late at night. Photoshop, writing and drawing. I miss sleeping. Dreams are amazing. Especially when they don't make any sense at all. Autumn is not disappointing this year. The lavender is drooping and no longer blooming. Freezing nights and mornings. Mushroom villages popping up everywhere. Discovered two CD's containing my old computer files. Looking through the pictures and music was great. Made me smile and a wonderful feeling came over me. Wonderful memories of school and childhood. Began writing my bucket list. I'm inspired by the boys of "The Buried Life." So far I have 30 things on my list to do before I die. I'll share something from my list I'm really excited about. I want to travel and possibly live in France. I took French in high school for two years and my dad's family has French roots. Taking pictures in Europe would be spectacular! I'll update more often I promise! Passion For Fashion 09/16/2010
Today Was Another Rainy Day Fog kept me from seeing the water view from my house. It was disappointing but it's neat to listen to the fog horns. The endless downpour kept me inside. Wearing sweaters is a favorite thing I miss during the summer. Even though, around here we still have cold days in the summer. Fuzzy socks and cozy slippers. I feel pretty warm. Oh and don't forget the coffee! Song of the Day Would have to be "To The Sky" by Owl City. I listened to this song for the first time today. It made my day! I already admire Adam Young and his whimsical songs. But now I am in love with this man. His lyrics make me feel like I'm in a magical land. His album "Ocean Eyes" has inspired me to draw one of my favorite drawings. I have since created different versions of the picture and I'm thinking about painting it. I'm not much of a painter. But I could be. Oh, and I would like to see "Legend of the Guardians". Owls are such beautiful creatures. "Project Runway" It's on right now in fact. And I'm missing it! I love this show. My favorite part is the runway at the end because I love what the designers' final outfits look like. I hope the challenge involving plants and flowers would come back! Amazing. Or the dresses made out of candy. Christian Siriano's dress was fierce with peanut butter cup wrappers! His autumn/winter 2010 collection is gorgeous. Movie of the Day One of my favorites, "The Lost Boys." I recently discovered that there will be a second one. Called "Lost Boys." Interesting. The original is witty and creepy. This is the original teenage vampire movie. 80's music and mullets. How can any other vampire movie compete with that? It can't! Tut tut it feels like rain! Or a hurricane. 09/15/2010
My website is looking great and I've been making only minor changes. Things are looking up and I feel really accomplished. Even though today was a bit cloudy, it didn't let me down. I was a little tired but I have photos to edit. I have a folder filled with pictures that need to be edited before I'm happy with them. This is why I take forever to upload things on Deviantart. I don't want this to happen on my website. I want to continue updating and show what I've been working on. I'm taking pictures everyday. The files are piling up. But I'm not going to get behind. The rain is so peaceful. Listening to the rain calms my nerves and makes me want to clean my room. In a way, the rain cleans the roads like I clean my room and leaves a scent so sweet and fresh. It rains so much in the Pacific Northwest but that doesn't bother me. Possibly because the rain washes away all of the debris, worries and dirt smeared across the road. And makes me feel so relaxed. On these kind of cold rainy days, I tend to listen to my Ipod a bit more than usual. Today's song of the day is Hurricane by 30 Seconds to Mars. Just one of the many songs I enjoy on this beautiful record. This song in particular, stands on it's own among the others because of it's strength within the lyrics. I'm assuming it's a conversation between a woman and a man. Fighting about who is wrong and who is right. What one would do for love. Fight for love. The hurricane could be their struggle and it surrounds only them. I'm not sure though. That's my interpretation anyway. So there you go. My struggle at the moment is trying to figure out what to do in order to make my dreams come alive. I know I have what it takes to set things in motion and all I have left to do is make them happen. Keep my dreams alive and keep moving forward. First Post! Yay! 09/14/2010
Hello world. Creating my first website has been an intense experience. Making sure I didn't forget anything and that it looks good has been my main priority. I'm very happy with the final product. And I'm editing here and there. It's been fun and it has given me a big boost of confidence. I am a professional artist and photographer. Oh yeah! I'm taking pictures with my little handy dandy digital camera everyday. It's with me while I'm walking the dog and going to the store. You never know when you might find an interesting shot. Many of my favorite photos I've taken are spontaneous and candid photos. I often get fixated on a effects or style. Such as night photos of bright lights that are deformed because of the slow shutter speed. And I usually like to shake my camera to get an even cooler effect. The weather is getting cold up here in Washington and I'm looking forward to taking more autumn photos. It's my favorite season. There is something about the colors and the feel in the air. Even though it's chilly out. It doesn't bother me though because I'm distracted by the falling leaves. Soon I will be getting a roll of film developed. I'm in love with my 35mm Pentax. It was my dad's back in the day. The only thing that I can't stand about film; is waiting for it to be developed. I want to learn how to develop film at home. However, it looks like that might take a lot of money and even more patience. Maybe someday I will get to develop my own film. Until then, the local photo developing store will suffice. I'm constantly uploading and editing my photos. And I will update as much as possible! | Author
